An album of postcards sent by or featuring Alf Common, the first seven in the hand of Alf Common and sent home from Copenhagen and Prague during an end of season continental football tour in May/June 1908; others featuring Alf Common and dating circa 1910-1914, often Common is seen together with team-mates at Middlesbrough, Woolwich Arsenal, Preston North End, also images of local junior teams; the lot also containing a portrait postcard of Alf's Sunderland team-mate Billy Hogg, an artist drawn caricature by Capt. Wade of Alf Common in 1936; and a later photograph of Sunderland's Patrick Gallagher inscribed 'From Paddy to Alf Common' (19) The legendary England international Steve Bloomer appears in a number of the photographs.
