A photograph album relating to Knightsbridge Ice Rink during the Edwardian era containing the signatures of early champion ice skaters, including many formal portraits of leading skaters of their day including some who have signed the album page where their picture has been laid down, notably: i) James Henry Johnson, the World Champion pairs skater and London 1908 Olympic silver medallist (also picture with his partner Phyllis Johnson who has not signed) ii) Horatio Torrome, the twice British figure skating champion who also represented Argentina including at the London 1908 Olympic Games when he was their only competitor iii) Basil Williams, British Champion and bronze medallist at the 1920 Antwerp Olympic Games iv) Louis Magnus, the French figure skating champion and later first President of the International Ice Hockey Federation v) Arthur Cumming, British figure skating champion and silver medallist in he special figures event at the London 1908 Olympic Games vi) Edgar & Madge Syers (double-signed), Madge was the first lady to compete at the World Figure Skating Championships when she entered in 1902 to break what had been an all male competition to that point. She was later twice Ladies World Champion and the Olympic gold medallist at the London 1908 Olympic Games, where she also won a bronze in the pairs with husband Edgar vii) Ulrich Salchow the dominant force in the sport at the time, 10 times world champion and gold medallist at the London 1908 Olympic Games. He also has a jump named after him in figure skating. and others unidentified, signed and unsigned, the album also containing pictures of the general public skating at the rink, and what appears to be at a tournament on an outside rink on the continent
