Three vintage 16mm tennis films, i) 'Hackers and Heroes' (27 minutes 12 secs) A fine documentary style account by Bud Collins of the 1973 'New England Merchants Bank' Longwood Cricket Club, Boston, tennis tournament for the Professional Championships of the United States. Collins introduces the club and its history from 1877. Action shots of many of the competitors are recorded, including: Ray Moore, Stan Smith, Cliff Richey, Dick Stockton, Jimmy Connors and Arthur Ashe. Interviews with Connors, Ashe, Clark, Graebner and others are shown as well as interesting scenes around the clubhouse and grounds. ii) 'Racquet Action' by Castle Films circa 1951 (Silent. Length - 8 minutes 36 secs) An early scene shows a Sphairistike box along with 5 very early offset rackets, and is followed by a re-enactment of an early tennis match, showing players in blazers and straw boaters, while the ladies wear long dresses and bustles. Further footage shows Wimbledon in 1950 with Louise Brough against Wendy Dupont and in the doubles, Brough & Dupont v. Fry & Hart. There is further action showing Von Cramm, Budge Patty and Frank Sedgman.
