Luciano Spinosi's match-worn blue Juventus No.2 away jersey from the 2nd Leg of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup final v Leeds United at Elland Road 3rd June 1971, short-sleeved, crew-neck collar; sold together with a signed letter of provenance from the former Leeds United player Mick Jones, and two pictures showing Jones wearing the Juventus shirt during the Leeds United post-match celebrations on the Elland Road pitch (4) This jersey is from the final ever game in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup competition. In season 1971-72 it was replaced by the UEFA Cup, which have the UEFA direct control over European football. The First Leg was played in Turin on 26th May 1971, but the match had to be abandoned in the 51st minute, with the score at 0-0, after the pitch became waterlogged. The match was replayed two days later and ended as a 2-2 draw. Incidentally, England manager Fabio Capello scored the 2nd Juventus goal that night. Madeley & Bates were the Leeds goalscorers. The 2nd Leg at Elland Road also finished as a draw, but by a 1-1 scoreline which meant that Leeds United lifted the trophy on the away goals rule. After the match Spinosi exchanged jerseys with Mick Jones. In photographs from the evening the Leeds player can be seen walking around the pitch wearing this jersey whilst carrying the trophy during the post-match celebrations. The shirt was subsequently acquired directly from Mick Jones by the present vendor. Luciano Spinosi was born in Rome 9th May 1950. He had transferred from Roma to Juventus at the start of this the 1970-71 season. The right back made a total of 138 appearances for the Turin club, before returning to Roma in 1978. His club career ended with spells at Hellas Verona, Milan and Cesena. Spinosi also won 19 international caps for Italy between 1971 and 1974. Luciano's older brother Enrico also played football professionally, and to distinguish them they were known as Spinosi I and Spinosi II according to age.
