A black 'Eclipse' patent gutta percha ball circa 1880s, some iron strike marks, but markings and shape retention good; sold together with an unnamed gutty in moderate condition; and a group of golf collectibles comprising a brass cased National Golf Sponge Box, three Spalding red wooden tees in original pack, two lead weighted tees; an ivorine divot repair tool; a second edition of Arnaud Massy's golf; a gilt-metal ball marker; and a pair of Barton-on-Sea GC centenary buttons (13) In 1877 The 'Eclipse' became the first patented golf ball in the world. It was made by William Currie & Co of Edinburgh.
