Ray Kennedy's 9ct. gold Division One Championship medal plaque from season 1975-76, inscribed DIVISION I, CHAMPIONS, 1975-76, in original Vaughton's of Birmingham case of issue, inscribed THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE Liverpool won their first trophy under Bob Paisley when winning the Football League Championship Division One title in season 1975-76. This exciting title race went down to Liverpool's final match of the season against Wolves at Molineux. To be certain of the title, Liverpool needed a win to leap frog QPR at the top of the table, whilst Wolves had to win to have any chance of avoiding relegation. A crowd of 48,900 saw the Reds come from a goal behind to win 3-1. Ray Kennedy scored the third goal to put the match beyond doubt. Ray Kennedy made 275 appearances for Liverpool between 1974 and 1982 and scored 51 goals. The midfielder had been Bill Shankly's final signing; he retired on the same day.
