Rae-Brown (Campbell) How We Beat The Captain's Colt, a scarce edition of a racing ballad dedicated to the memory of Fred Archer, 16 pages, paper wrappers, published by Samuel French, London, circa 1886, signed twice by the original owner Vincent Carlyle, and inscribed 'Carlyle Comedy Company' This work also contains the author's ''The Racing Man's Toast'' to the late Fred Archer, reading: Never again will the great crowd hail The ''Tinman'' taking the Tat'n'am rail, Sweeping along under silken sail, Fred Archer! Never 'neath him will the ''favourite'' run; Never again will the cry - ''well done!'' Welcome him home when the race is won, Fred Archer! Never again with his ''demon'' dash, Past the judge will our idol flash, Landing the odds and winning us cash, Fred Archer! Never again will he pass the post, Save in the night in the garb of a ghost, Then give it tongue! 'tis a noble toast, Fred Archer!
