Printed results from Chester Races in 1791, published by T. Hunter Jnr. and dedicated to Thomas Cholmondeley Esq. and John Griffith Lewis Esq., Stewards of Chester Racecourse, inscribed with the results of six races each illustrated with the runners and riders in their finishing order, depicted in the 'rocking-horse' gallop and running towards pictographs of prizes and trophies, 22 by 14cm., 8 3/4 by 5 1/2in. Although dated May 2nd 1791, the Racing Calendar reveals that this was the opening day of a six-day fixture at the 'Roodee', where a single race was run from Monday 2nd May to Saturday 7th May. There were wins for Mr Smith Barry's bay colt Bergamotte, Mr Radcliffe's chestnut colt Mousetrap (twice), Mr Fowler's grey horse Windlestone (twice) and Mr Noble's unnamed colt, a brother to Schoolboy. However, Interestingly, if not to say controversially, Mr Noble's winner was subsequently disqualified and the race was awarded to the runner-up Trojan, a chestnut colt owned by one of the Chester Stewards Mr Cholmondeley.
