Guillaume Macaire (French, born 1956) RACE HORSE OWNED BY CLAUDE DUMEAU, NIORT (FRANCE) ,1958 signed and titled on the stretcher, oil on canvas, 54 by 66cm., 22 by 26in., framed appendix Lots 833 & 834 The following two paintings are by Guillaume Macaire, who is the current champion jumps trainer in France, a title he has held since 2003. He is based in the Charente Maritime region of France at La Palmyre racecourse. Macaire paints for relaxations and has developed into an accomplished artist. He is best known in Great Britain for training Jair Du Cochet, who between 2000 and 2004 regularly landed successful raids on Grade races including the Finale Junior Hurdle, the Feltham Novices' Chase, the Pillar Properties Chase and, most famously, when he defeated Best Mate in the Peterborough Chase.
