Edredon Bleu: the award for top AQPS horse in the UK 1997-1999, in the form of an electroplated dish inscribed EDREDON BLEU, TOP AQPS HORSE IN THE UK, 1997 - 1999, OWNER: JIM LEWIS, OFFERED BY THE FRENCH ASSOCIATION OF AQPS, diameter 35cm., 13 3/4in. The acronym AQPS stands for Autre Que Pur-Sang, translated as ''other than thoroughbred.'' The designation usually means that one parent is not listed in the General Stud Book. The Fellow and Edredon Bleu are probably the best known AQPS steeplechasers that have raced in the UK. appendix Edredon Bleu (lots 676 to 686) Edredon Bleu was already a winner on the flat and over jumps in France before being purchased by Jim Lewis and sent to Henrietta Knight. In a highly successful career, Edredon Bleu's most notable wins include his three Grade 1 wins in the Queen Mother Champion Chase in 2000, the Ladbrokescasino.com Championship Chase in 2001 and the King George VI Chase in 2003. The gelding also won four back-to-back Peterborough Chases, two Haldon Gold Cups, the Desert Orchid Chase and a Clonmel Oil Chase.
