A bearer's torch from the 8th Juegos Deportivos Centroamericanos Y Del Caribe (Central American & Caribbean Games) held in Caracas in 1959, engraved with details to the bowl; sold together with two plaquettes for the Games, in gilt & enamel and silver & enamel, each inscribed VIII JUEGOS DEPORTIVOS CENTROAMERICANOS Y DEL CARIB, 1958, CARACAS - VENEZUELA (3) The 8th Central American & Caribbean Games were due to be held in Caracas in December 1958, as inscribed on the torch. However, due to political unrest in Venezuela the Games were put back to January 1959. The flame cauldron had been an innovation at the previous Games held in Mexico City in 1954. Mexico topped the medals table in Caracas. Provenance: The San Siro Museum, Milan.
