George Eyston-signed 'Speed Kings of 1938' brochure, the George Eyston portrait signed by him in ink and dated 1939, the Shell - BP twice-folded 3-colour printed promotional brochure also showing a similar portrait of John Cobb and details of their respective record breaking exploits during the year, foolscap size when folded: 33 by 19cm., 13 by 7½in., sold with a later newspaper cutting referring to Eyston's Thunderbolt car in New Zealand (2) At Utah in the summer of 1938 Captain G.E.T. Eyston twice broke the World's Land Speed Record. Initially he raised it to 345mph, some 34mph above the existing record, before increasing it to 357mph.
