An autographed display of Jack Dempsey Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the World between 1919 and 1926, signed in ink on an album page with dedication and inscribed ''Good Luck'', mounted besides two pictures of Dempsey in boxing poses, framed & glazed, 35.5 by 42cm., 14 by 16 1/2in. Dempsey won the crown from Jess Willard (see previous lot) in Toledo, Ohio, 4th July 1919. Dempsey's aggressive style and explosive punching power made him one of the most popular fighters of all time, with many of his contests setting new financial and attendance records. He eventually lost his title in controversial circumstances during the ''Long Count'' fight with Gene Tunney in Philadelphia 23rd September 1926.
