An original 16mm film ''Lawn Tennis and How to Play It'' - Bunny Austin circa 1935, duration 11 minutes, in a can; this film has been copied to DVD and is available as part of the lot (2) A production by Gaumont British Instructional showing for 11 minutes. The sound film has commentary by Colonel R.H.Brand (a member of the BBC, but a tennis tournament player and umpire)and is directed by John Betts. Featuring the play of H.W. ''Bunny'' Austin throughout the film begins with Austin (in shorts) and I. H. Wheatcroft walking out of the players entrance of the All England Club Wimbledon, to survey the weather conditions. Much of the film is recorded at the All England Club (on court number 3), but we also see Austin in splendid action at an unidentified tournament (Possibly Queen's Club). He demonstrates, the service, forehand and backhand in slow-motion, as well as the volley and the smash. There is lots of slow-motion action and it proves a great retrospective opportunity to study Austin's style and form nearly 80 years ago. Near the end of the film we see Austin beating Shields at Wimbledon in the 1934 Davis Cup. not illustrated
