An official South Shields FC minutes book covering the period January 1928 to May 1930, signed, manuscript minutes of directors' meetings held at the offices at Horsley Hill; the lot also including two letters dated 1923 being correspondence between South Shields FC and The Football Association with regard to ''improper payments being made by the Club'' and the consequential punishments imposed by the F.A. (3) South Shields FC were members of Football League Division Two from 1919-20 to 1927-28, and the Third Division (northern section) from 1928-29 to 1929-30, the date where this minutes book concludes. The club folded and was taken over by Gateshead, despite finishing 9th in the League. That was it until 1936 - 37 when, with financial support from the Shields gazette, the team reformed in the North Eastern League and enjoyed immediate success in both league and Durham Challenge Cup.
