The Football League Division Two Championship medal awarded to the Huddersfield Town FC trainer Henry Cockburn in season 1969-70, in 9ct. gold, inscribed with details to the obverse and reverse, in its original fitted case inscribed THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE Henry Cockburn (14 September 1923 - 2 February 2004) was a left-half who played league football for Manchester United, Bury and Peterborough United between 1944 and 1959. He also won 13 full England international caps between 1946 and 1951, one of his England shirts is being offered elsewhere in the auction as lot 47. While at Old Trafford, Cockburn won a F.A. Cup winner's medal in 1948 and a League Championship medal in 1952. After retiring as a player, Cockburn worked as assistant trainer at Oldham Athletic and then as senior coach at Huddersfield Town where he guided the Yorkshire club to a Second Division Title in season 1969-70, winning the present medal in the process.
