Hare Coursing: The trophy for the 1931 South of England Cup in the form of a silver-gilt cup & cover and plinth by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd, hallmarked London, 1930, the imaginative design including handles designed as greyhounds chasing hares issuing from above Bacchus masks on the rim frieze, the lid with a band featuring hares amongst ferns and foliage and surmounted by models of a hare courser with a pair of greyhounds, the stepped cubic plinth inscribed SOUTH OF ENGLAND CUP, WON BY SWAHILI, 1931, in original fitted wooden carrying case, with key, overall height of trophy when mounted on plinth 30.5cm., 12in., overall weight 1,084gr., 34oz. 17dwt.
