Two years later it became Walter Wolf Racing and, as the team's 'tyre man', he worked with Jody Scheckter and Keke Rosberg. In 1982 he joined McLaren and spent the next 18 years looking after the likes of Niki Lauda, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard. He eventually retired in April 2000 having contributed to no fewer than nine Formula 1 Drivers World Championships.
