Hammer Price:

Estimated Price:

£150 - £250

Memorabilia relating to Thomas ''Tod'' Sloan, comprising a dark blue velvet football cap with a gilt-wire monogram possibly reading S F A, inscribed I C T and dated 1897-8; sold with a copy of the pamphlet ''History of Third Lanark Athletic Club'' published 1936 with a picture of Thomas Sloan in his role of club director (2) Thomas Parker Sloan was born in Eastwood, Glasgow, 4th October 1880. His nickname was ''Tod'', after the famous American jockey of the time Tod Sloan. Sloan was capped once for Scotland and at Third Lanark the centre-half won a Scottish League and a Scottish Cup winner's medal, before moving upstairs to take a place in the Board of Directors. The cap in this lot dates to when Sloan was 17 or 18 years of age and it is unsure what it represents. From the inscriptions, a plausible guess might be an Inter County or Inter City Trophy organised by the S.F.A. for youth players.
