A scrapbook relating to John Coll football trainer of the USA team who competed at the first World Cup in Uruguay in 1930, containing correspondence, press cuttings, photographs, menus, including interesting 1930 World Cup material, also Charlton Athletic memorabilia including a badge relating to a tour of North America in 1937, and other miscellaneous items John Coll was born at Downpatrick in County Down in 1893 and made his name as a trainer in Glasgow football in the 1920s before moving to the USA where he took over at Brooklyn Wanderers in 1926. He was then asked by the United States Football Association to act in a similar capacity for the national team competing at the first World Cup in Uruguay in 1930. Later in 1937 Coll was in charge of the Charlton Athletic Tour of North America.
