A Clapham Rovers scrapbook relating to the England rugby international cap Henry Anderson Bryden and mainly covering the period 1870 to 1876, pasted with numerous press cuttings match reports, and containing an index, also correspondence Clapham Rovers were well to the fore as a sports club at this period and competed at football, rugby, athletics and cricket. Indeed they held the honour of playing in the first ever F,A, Cup round one tie when they beat Upton Park 3-0, and lifted the Cup in 1880 beating Oxford University 1-0 in the final. H A Bryden was born at Banbury, Oxfordshire, 3rd May 1854. His crowning sporting achievement was when he was capped for England rugby v Scotland in 1874. He was also a fine long distance runner and a follower of country sports and pursuits. He died 23rd September 1937. not illustrated
