A letter from M. Conan Doyle to the editor of Motor Sport, hand-written in ink on The Grand, Folkestone, headed-notepaper, dated Dec 31st 1927, complaining that the Inter-Varsity Reliability Trials report was at the expense of that of the Cambridge Speed Trials where the winning Frontenac broke the course record by one and a half seconds and emphasising that 'undergrads' prefer speed trials rather than reliability trials. Adrian Malcolm Conan Doyle was the youngest son of the famous Sherlock Holmes author. Along with his brothers who bought the original 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' aero-engined racing car, he later became a regular competitor at Brooklands. not illustrated
