A rare 1908 Tourist Trophy Instructions to Officials, a 28-page staple-bound booklet with card covers (restored) published by the Royal Automobile Club, 119 Piccadilly, London W, entitled 'International ''Four-Inch'' Race for the Tourist Trophy, Thursday 24th September 1908' and listing all Clerks of the Course for the 21 separate sections of the 37?-mile Isle of Man circuit, all ambulance stations and medical units, telegraph offices, railway stations, flag signals, details of all 38 competitors and their starting times, the timekeepers and a list of facilities around the course, plus a 9-lap progress chart for 38 starters printed on the outside back cover, page size 25by 15cm., 10 by 6in. The rules that year stipulated a maximum of four cylinders limited to a diameter of four inches. This led the Press to forecast dangerously high speeds, yet no serious accident occurred and W. Watson won driving a Hutton, averaging 50.3mph for the 338 miles.
