Two 1997 Le Mans 24-Hours winning Gulf-McLaren drivers race-suits, one with the Velcro belt embroidered J.M GOUNON, the other P.H RAPHANEL, both bearing large main sponsors' patches for Gulf and Michelin, small sleeve patches for Tommy Hilfiger, Photobition, Kenwood and Sea France, plus Arjo Wiggins on the former and Securicor on the latter suit, the first also signed in marker pen: Michael Caine '97, made by Stand 21 in Nomex to FIA 1986 Standard 01.029.FFSA.97, sizes A and A1+ respectively; sold with a photograph of Michael Caine signing the race suit When a McLaren won the 1995 Le Mans 24-hours outright, it was due to prototype, non-production models being banned from that year's race. Yet in 1997 the Jean-Marc Gounon/Pierre-Henri Raphanel/Anders Olofsson Gulf-McLaren F1 GTR-BMW not only won the GT class, but finished second overall, merely one lap behind the winning prototype. Michael Caine was responsible for managing this effort, which occurred just four months before the one hundredth and last McLaren F1 to be built left the factory.
