The sky blue Uruguay No.4 1950 World Cup final jersey worn by Schubert Gambetta, short-sleeved with white v-neck collar and cuffs; sold together with a letter of authenticity (2) Bought at Sotheby's 7th December 1999 as lot 299 from the Hugo Mancebo Decaux Collection. Schubert Gambetta played for Nacional and was a precocious talent. He could played in any position or system and was a master of technical skills. He was mainly deployed as a back, but he thrived in coming forward and scored 41 goals at domestic level. The highlight of his career was Uruguay's famous 1950 World Cup victory in Brazil. The shirt has provenance from the widow of Schubert Gambetta.
