The official Hungarian Football Association pennant for the international match v England played in Budapest 23rd May 1954, the silkwork pennant in the red, white & green colour of the Hungarian national flag with applique crest of the Hungarian F.A. and dated 1954; sold with a photograph of Ferenc Puskas holding this pennant immediately before presenting it to the England captain Billy Wright preceding the kick off. (2) Following England's first historic home defeat against overseas opposition at Wembley in 1953, Hungary confirmed their superiority with a staggering 7-1 victory over England when the teams met again in Budapest the following year. This remains a record England defeat. Previously sold at Sotheby's New Bond Street 23rd February 1999 as lot 128.
