A rare 9mm film of the rugby competition at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, English version, made by Pathe Baby, France, the 50mm reel with printed label VIIIth OLYMPIADE, PARIS, 1924, RUGBY Rugby was an Olympic sport in Paris in 1900, London 1908, Antwerp 1920 and, finally, in Paris in 1924. Over 30,000 spectators watched the United States team win the gold medal and trash the French hosts in the process. The home crowd did not take the defeat well and fighting broke out in the stands. the American team required a police escort to leave the infield following the medal ceremony.
