A 22ct. gold 1890 F.A. Cup winner's medal awarded to Jack Barton of Blackburn Rovers, inscribed J. BARTON, BLACKBURN ROVERS, THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION CHALLENGE CUP, 1890, with later brooch fitting and chain The 1890 F.A. Cup final was played at the Kennington Oval on 29th March and ended in an impressive 6-1 win for Rovers over Sheffield Wednesday. Barton won a further F.A. Cup winner's medal the following season when Blackburn beat Notts County 3-1. John ''Jack'' Barton was born and bred at Blackburn 5th October 1866 and joined Rovers via Witton FC and Blackburn West End. His career was ended prematurely through injury in 1891. The right-half also won an England cap for his participation in the 9-1 victory over Ireland at Ballynafeigh Park 15th March 1890.
