A commemorative racing plate for Lord Glanely's British Empire, the plate decoratively wrapped in silk conforming to Lord Glanely's racing colours with a central jockey cap suspension, ink inscription to reverse reading LD. GLANELY, BRITISH EMPIRE British Empire was a bay colt foaled in 1937 by Colombo out of Rose of England and was a half-brother to Lord Glanely's 1937 St Leger winner Chumleigh. He was trained by Basil Jarvis and won four races including the Chesham Stakes, the July Stakes and the Lavant Stakes.
