A Royal Bank of Scotland Five Pounds banknote signed by Jack Nicklaus, serial number JWN1510241, mounted in a frame together with a signed letter of authenticity from Rose S. Garrido, Executive Assistant to Jack Nicklaus, 41 by 30cm., 16 by 12in. The Royal Bank of Scotland honoured Jack Nicklaus by issue a special commemorative £5 banknote bearing his image. The note was in recognition of his Open Championship victories at St Andrews. Apart from Her Majesty The Queen and the late Queen Mother, Nicklaus is the only living person ever to have appeared on a Scottish banknote. Two million notes went into circulation on July 14th 2005, the first day of the Open Championship and Nicklaus's 38th and final appearance. A very small number of these banknotes have been personally signed by Nicklaus, the present lot being such an example. The signing was on behalf of the Peterhead Community Hospital Medical Unit.
