An impressive collection of trophies awarded to Jeanette Poncelet together with a personal album of photographs and press cuttings 1930s and 1940s the trophies comprise: i) an English silver cup, hallmarked London 1931, inscribed NICE L.T.C., COUPE DE LA F.F.L.T., 1931, MLLE J. PONCELET, on original plinth; ii) an English silver cup hallmarked 1931, inscribed N.L.T.C., KOSTORIS CUP, LADIES SINGLES CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP, 1933 MME H. ESSEIVA, 1934 MME DE SAINT-FERREOL, 1935 MELLE J. PONCELET 1936, MELLE J. PONCELET 1937, MLLE J. PONCELET, on original plinth; iii) an English silver cup by Mappin & Webb, hallmarked Sheffield 1936, inscribed N.L.T.C., LADIES SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP, PRESENTED BY M. KOSTORIS, on original Mappin & Webb plinth; iv) a French silver Art Deco trophy with macassar ebony plinth & mounts, fixed with a plaque inscribed S.C.D., TOURNOI DE TENNIS 1936; v) & vi) a French modernist silver bowl and a beaker, both by Christofle and both inscribed VAL D'ESQUIERES ATHLETIC CLUB; the lot also including a wooden plinth with plaque inscribed T.C.B., COUPE VULLIEZ, SIMPLE DAMES, SEPTEMBRE 1933 - MADAME AMOURETTI, SEPTEMBER 1934 - MLLE J. PONCELET, SEPTEMBER 1935 - MME NICOLOPULO, SEPTEMBER 1936 - MLLE J. PONCELET, SEPTEMBER 1937 - MLLE J. PONCELET; Jeanette Poncelet's album iclusing photographs of Jeanette Poncelet and King Gustav of Sweden, one signed in ink by the King, together with the Nice Lawn Tennis Club Annuaire for 1939, this records Suzanne Lenglen's association with the club and her 18 titles in singles, doubles & mixed doubles between 1914 and 1926; together with programmes for the 1947 & 1948 French Championships in which Jeanette Poncelet played Jeanette Poncelet won the Singles title at Nice in 1935, 1936 and 1937, thereby retaining the trophy presented by W. Kostoris which is included in the collection together with a photograph of the presentation. Having won again in 1938 the second Kostoris Trophy is also in the collection. Poncelet also won the ladies doubles on six occasions through to 1938, and the mixed doubles three times to 1938. The album in this lot also has press cuttings relating to the tournaments for which trophies v & vi were presented and many other tournaments throughout the 1930s & 1940s with photographs
