A fine silver & leather boxing belt, dated 1902, hallmarked London, 1902, maker's stamp for A. Tysall, Farringdon, the brown leather belt applied with various silver plaques, the central example cast with two boxers and inscribed PRESENTED BY EDWARD HART ESQ., MEMBER OF TATTERSALLS, TO JACK SCALES OF LONDON WHO DEFEATED BEN TAYLOR FOR THE HEAVY WEIGHT CORONATION CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE NEW ADELPHI CLUB, ON JUNE 25TH 1902, flanked by a pair of plaques cast with a lion, union flags & English roses, further flanked by a pair of roundels one cast with Scottish thistle, the other Irish shamrock, the belt terminating with half roundels when clasped forming a circle of Welsh daffodils, the reverse lined with green baize, in a glazed hinged wooden display case (with key) lined with green velvet & gold metal thread borders, the belt 90cm., 35 1/2in., the case 100 by 34cm., 39 1/2 by 13 1/2in.
