A glass claret Jug with silver mounts by the German firm Orivit, Orivit sterling silver .925 marks to mount, inscribed 1 PREIS, WIESBADEN 1906, F.A. LINDEMANN, HANDICAP-MIXED 15, height 34cm., 13 1.4in., crack to glass below mount Silver by Orivit is rare. The marks were registered in 1904 and production ceased in 1914. The international lawn tennis tournament at Wiesbaden concluded on 13th May 1906. Copies of reports in Lawn Tennis and Badminton dated 16th & 23rd May are included with this lot. A.F. Wilding, four times winner of the singles at Wimbledon from 1910 to 1913, and men's doubles champion in 1907, 1908, 1910 & 1914, partnered Mlle. Masson in the ladies & gentlemen's doubles handicap at Wiesbaden. They were beaten in the 3rd round by Frese and Frl. Holzapfel, whom Lindemann and Frl. Brambeer beat in the fourth round, going on to win the final against Trasenster and Frl. Berton.
