Gary Sprake's red Wales international cap season 1974-75, the inside label marked G. SPRAKE; sold with a letter of authenticity signed by Gary Sprake (2) This cap represents Gary Sprake's last season of international football in season 1974-75. The Leeds keeper played in three matches v Austria, Hungary & Luxembourg, his 35th, 36th & 37th appearances for Wales. Gary Sprake (Leeds United and Wales) Lots 174 to 181 Gary Sprake joined Leeds United as an apprentice and made his debut as a sixteen-year-old in 1962 when the regular 'keeper went down with a stomach bug just before the match. Over the next two seasons he established himself as a first team regular. Honours came in the form of a League Cup, a Fairs Cup and then a League championship in 1969. He eventually lost his place to David Harvey and was transferred to Birmingham City in 1973 in order to play first team football again and bid to regain his place as the Welsh international goalkeeper. Gary Sprake won a total of 37 caps between seasons 1963-64 and 1974-75.
