An archive of personal photographs and ephemera relating to George Brown, the Scottish international player and Glasgow Rangers FC director, a quantity of photographs, press cuttings, correspondence & other miscellaneous items George Clark Phillips Brown was a product of Scottish Schools Football and joined Glasgow Rangers from his local side Ashfield in 1929. He is remembered as one of the best attacking left half-backs in Scottish international football and was a regular member of the team between 1932 and 1938 winning a total of 13 internationals caps. He also represented the Scottish League five times. After his playing career he became a director at Ibrox following the death of R.G. Campbell. However, Brown , but was also a schoolmaster who became head teacher at the newly opened Bellahouston Academy in 1963. He also kept a keen interest in Scottish Schools' football. Additionally, Prime Minister Attlee appointed Brown a member of a Royal Commission inquiring into the law relating to marriage and divorce.
